My Most Prized Acheivements

As I have met many people that do not have the pleasure of having this acheivement. I see how this is a great blessing in my life, that some choose not to have. I am talking about my children and my wife. These are truly the most prized gems that I can think of. My dear sweet wife knows of the trials that come with this gift far better then me, but I know that she would most definatly agree that our children are a priceless gift from God!

My New Position at Beehive Clothing!

I am now the Lab Technician at Beehive Clothing (LDS temple clothing is manufactured). This job is a lot of fun. I get to test all different types of fabrics. From things about their physical properties to information that will tell us how this fabric will behave after it is washed repeatedly. On Friday I got to pull out some of the chemicals that we have in the lab to do a titration! This was a lot of fun. We wanted to find out how much hydrogen peroxide was left in the bleach liquor after completing a bleach cycle in our finishing department. We got the sample from one of our mechanics. We were ready to do the titration. (because this would be my first titration my boss was showing me how to do it.) We took 10ml of the bleach liquor and set that aside. Then we took 100ml of 10% (diluted) Sulfuric Acid and put that into a conical beaker. Then the next step was to add a very small amount of magnesium permanganate to the acid to get a pale pink reaction. This was achieved with only three drops of magnesium permanganate. Then we added the 10ml of the bleach liquor to the pale pink solution. It turned the solution clear again. We immediately started adding more magnesium permanganate to the solution. The drops of magnesium permanganate would sit on top of the solution so to get the reaction we needed to swish the solution around in the conical beaker. We added 5.4 ml on the first trial and 5.7 on the second. It was amazing how the hydrogen peroxide would take the color out of the magnesium permanganate after swishing the solution. We knew that we had added the correct amount of magnesium permanganate when the solution had turned back to the pale pink color, and that color stayed for at least 30 seconds.

In Two Weeks From Today!

You might be wondering what would be happening in two weeks? The big election will be over with by then! Well if you haven't guessed it I will be one year older. I will be 29 years young. I am excited to see what my wife is going to get me this year for my birthday. In the years pasted I would find something that I wanted and buy it and say, "here is my birthday present!" This year I will not do this. I am waiting to see what I will get from my wife and family. I love to be surprised.
